Recent News From The Tarkan Front
In our last commentary “Tarkan turns the ignition on” we provided you with some hints that the media’s treatment of the news about Tarkan’s custody and his release would start a debate over media ethics and legal procedures used for people under detention. The last two days since we published our article indicate that TarkanPLUS International has been correct in its prediction.
For example, in today’s Turkish daily Milliyet, Can Dundar looks into the issue in depth. Highlighting the fundamental principle in law that everyone is innocent until proven guilty, Can Dundar writes that instead of criticizing the police for not handcuffing Tarkan, we should question why some journalists and commanders claimed to have links with an alleged coup have not received the same treatment as Tarkan did. As our readers would remember, Can Dundar had a live phone interview with Tarkan’s lawyer on NTV in the wake of Tarkan’s release. However, later Can Dundar was criticized in some news portals for not asking the right questions to Tarkan’s lawyer.
Another article dated March 4, 2010 and written by Turkish daily Sabah’s Hincal Uluc is worth examining because it offers an intriguing critique of media and human nature. In his article titled “Unbearable Joy of Lynching Tarkan”, Uluc claims that all this lynching is the work of those who have wasted their lives being jealous of Tarkan. Uluç argues, “Now they have the chance of a lifetime and they try to make the best out of it”.
Support for Tarkan
Ajda Pekkan, Turkish Pop Diva known as “Superstar”, has supported Tarkan. According to a news article by Milliyet’s İbrahim Şahin, Pekkan said “To err is human. What matters is to stand by people and give support when needed. I will support Tarkan forever. He is a great star and I don’t think his fans will abandon him.”
Fan support for Tarkan
Tarkan receives support from his fans as well. Miss A from Romania has contacted us saying that she started a blog supporting the Prince of Pop which can be visited here.
Update on Tarkan’s new album
In an interview published today in Turkish daily Hurriyet, Mustafa Ceceli, popular Turkish arranger, composer and singer, has said that he is currently arranging two songs for Tarkan’s new album which is to be released in May 2010 if everything goes well as scheduled by Tarkan and his team.

I want to say that I’m so glad you made public and help me to promote my blog in order to support Tarkan. I’m not a professional in creating websites and such, but I’ve tried to make at least a blog which has the objective to reveal that even Tarkan was consuming narcotics or not we’re with and next to him (morally speaking). For the moment I’m the only one who tried to be heard, who posted messages for the Prince of Pop on all the websites, who created a blog in order to support him, but I hope the fans will gather when they’ll see my little blog. I want to collect all the messages for Tarkan in only one place, I want to know the fans’ opinions etc. (perhaps because of not being promoted, the blog is not so known by Tarkan’s fans, but maybe in a relatively short time will be forming a community). I’m very grateful to TarkanPLUS International team and this way I want wish them all the best.
